MEMBERSHIP
Membership in the
NSDAR is a unique opportunity to establish one's lineage and
heritage as a descendant of a patriot of the American
Revolution. Applicants interested in participating in the
historical, educational and patriotic activities of the NSDAR
are welcome.
An individual
joins a chapter by invitation of that chapter. She is
accepted as a member of the National Society by action of the
National Board of Management. A DAR member is first a member of
the National Society and through her chapter and state
organization, she contributes her service to the collective
strength and progress of the National Society of the Daughters
of the American Revolution.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
An applicant for
membership:

Must be no
less than 18 years of age.

Shall prove
lineal blood line descent from an ancestor who aided in
achieving American independence.

Must provide
documentation for each statement of birth, marriage and
death.

This shall include the
applicant's birth certificate naming her parents.

This applies to "new
ancestors" and to previously accepted lineages for which
documentation was not required at the time of
acceptance.
ACCEPTABLE SERVICE
The National Society accepts service with some
exceptions, for the period between 19 April 1775 (Battle of
Lexington) and 26 November 1783 (withdrawal of British Troops
from New York).
